Has anyone tried Green Bags Foodsaver Bags? I am having problems with my pricey veggies going bad before the guinea pigs can eat them all. I've seen ads on TV for these foodsaver bags called Debbie Meyer Green Bags. They are supposed to keep your produce fresh much longer than regular plastic bags. Has anyone tried these? I'm thinking about investing in some because they would be worth it if they actually work.

Re: Has anyone tried Green Bags Foodsaver Bags? I've tried them and in my opinion they were a waste of money. I wound up throwing them away as all they did was take up space in my cabinets. You are better off getting a Rubbermaid type of food saver. At least they are re-usable.

Re: Has anyone tried Green Bags Foodsaver Bags? You really shouldn't vacuum pack raw veggies. It will trap any moisture in against them. Getting a plastic container and layering veggies between layers of paper towels, or wrapping herbs in paper towel in a zipper bag is the cheapest and most effective way to store them. Veggies are not like hay or pellets. It's not in your best interest to buy them in bulk unless you have a larger herd of pigs.

Re: Has anyone tried Green Bags Foodsaver Bags? I use them. They are amazing and work very well. An awesome investment. I still have cabbage from 3 weeks ago and it's perfect.

Re: Has anyone tried Green Bags Foodsaver Bags? Thanks for the advice, guys! I think I'll have to just try them out for myself and see how they work. I'll post a review once I've formed an opinion.

Re: Has anyone tried Green Bags Foodsaver Bags? No, i use rubbermaid containers if i have to. I do weekly grocery shopping so nothing goes bad and only buy as much as they can eat withing 7-10 days. Even if somehing looks fresh that's been in the fridge for three weeks taste is and see if you would want to eat it. I can't get out of going to the grocery store at least once a week for two piggies and i find that i could probably feed one more because i have had some things go bad. Two for one cucumbers .99, kale 1.28, romaine 1.28, tomatoes .99-2.49, green leaf 1.28, carrot bunch w/ greens 1.28 etc. I buy one bunch of different things depending what is on sale that week, but always enough lettuce to last and no go bad.

Re: Has anyone tried Green Bags Foodsaver Bags? I use the green bags, and I get pretty good results from them. I have some organic strawberries in a bag now, and they're at least 1 week old, and still great. Usually, strawberries mold fairly quickly. I had some raspberries too, and they were still great after who knows how long, and they got mushy a little and sat in their own juices too! Raspberries usually mold very fast for me, but those lasted a long time. I put clean, washed and blot dried veggies/fruit in a completely dry bag, and fold it unde or twist it up and fold under in the fridge. They work well for greens too, you just have to use the foods up, and not let them sit for 2 months l o l. P.S: *points down* The rectangle ad down there is talking about some sort of fiber bars now., l o l They look delicious Last edited by sophistacavy : 04-06-08 at 07:15 pm. Reason: delete smiley
