LM Animal Farms Pellet?

I tried a forum search, but can't seem to locate anything about this brand. Are these good pellets? It' the only brand sold locally, I'm currently using Kaytee, but am wanting a quality pellet for my boys. I looked at Guinea Lynx but didn't see LM mentioned...

I didn't buy them yet, since I wanted to check first. If they're no good I'll be purchasing Mazuri online from Petsmart.

Re: LM Animal Farms Pellet?

Woah, I would totally NOT reccomend LM Animal farms brand at all. Ly&Pigs said that the Hartz brand that makes LM has killed animals(although don't ask me how, I guessed she meant by poor nutrition....). Kaytee and LM are both probably equally junky brands.

Mazuri is acceptable in only one of their cavy formulas, I'm not sure which one, I think its called "5664". Even better than that would be Oxbow or KM's pellets. You can order both KM or Oxbow online.

Re: LM Animal Farms Pellet?

Hartz is pretty crappy.

If you're going to order online, you may as well get Oxbow or Kleenmama. They're much better and you aren't supporting Pestmart.

Re: LM Animal Farms Pellet?

Eeek! I didn't realize LM was made my Hartz, that one I've heard of! Perhaps I just missed the Hartz label on the bag...The Kaytee came with my pigs when I adopted them, so I'm just trying to finish off the bag.

Do you have a link where you or any other members buy their Oxbow? If I'm going to be doing my ordering online I might as well get the best!

PS - Is LM or Kaytee's timothy hay alright? It's what I've been using. I'm hoping to get down to my local feed store this weekend and see if they have a bale. They were closed Saturday when I went by, grrr.

Re: LM Animal Farms Pellet?

Any grass hay is fine. The only think about Kaytee or other brands of hay is that they may not be as green or fresh as Oxbow or Kleenmama's. I can vouch for Oxbow's quality, but I should receiving my first shipment of KMs later this week.

Re: LM Animal Farms Pellet?

If you go for the Mazuri brand, don't buy it in a petstore as most don't have the proper formula of Mazuri which is 5664. I'd opt for KM's or Oxbow first.

Re: LM Animal Farms Pellet?

I've heard in more than one place that kaytee is not a very good brand. Is this true?

Yes. The majority of people here will recommend Mazuri, Oxbow or KM [links above.] Kaytee also has a preservative, Ethoxyquin, in it that can cause cancer in small animals.
