Re: Other Veggie's.

The most commonly fed veggies are on the list. There are other varieties of lettuces that can be fed that aren't on my charts.

Re: Other Veggie's.

Why? There's lots of stuff on the list, and isn't it easier, if you're a newbie to guinea pigs, to go with the things that experienced people have found to be safe, nutritious, and generally enjoyed?

Re: Other Veggie's.

I at the moment feed Lambs lettuce, rocket and rosso.. among other things but those are the ones that I don't think are on the list. Oh and Round lettuce and curly lettuce both very similar to what you call butterhead lettuce!

I'm sorry--I didn't see your join date (my screen is narrow, and so I try to avoid scrolling sideways more than absolutely necessary) I'll go get this last shoelace out of my teeth...

Re: Other Veggie's.

Other than a few different varieties of lettuces and a couple herbs, there really aren't any other veggies that should be fed. Most everything that can be fed to pigs are on my charts. If you are unsure about something, then you can ask if it's safe on this thread. Otherwise, don't feed it.

Re: Other Veggie's.

Oh Ly I hope I can ask this on this thread rather than start another. It says you can feed strawberries daily, is that really ok? They have been on sale here recently and my pigs adore them! I give them one each a day recently. Also can you feed the leaves on the top? I would think they'd love them but do not know if they're safe.

Re: Other Veggie's.

Yeah but I really don't recommend fruit on a daily basis. Does your family like strawberries as well? If they do then you could get some and everyone could enjoy them. I'd give either a very small strawberry per pig or 1/2 a larger one. The leaves on the tops can be fed, in fact that's the only part of the strawberries my own pigs will even eat.

Here I've been throwing the tops away I'll have to test the leaves out on my pigs next time!

Re: Other Veggie's.

I tried them with the tops and they just ate the whole strawberry. Greedy things. Talking of strawberries look at this one I pulled out of my tub:
