 Baby Carrots and Broccoli..... Hey all - Just wanted to see if what I am feeding my 2 pigs is ok......in addition to hay and oxbow pellets, we feed about 4 baby carrots per pig per day and we cut up about 1 head/stalk of broccoli (cutting the stem off and just using the head) per day..both the carrots and broccoli are given at night. I just want to make sure I am not giving them too much or not enough! thanks! |

| Re: Baby Carrots and Broccoli..... What you are feeding your pig are not veggies that should be fed everyday, especially carrots. Carrots have little nutritional value and feeding in overdose can cause organ failure! You're feeding them way too many carrots, and broccoli is not suppose to be fed so often. You should only feed it 2-4 times per week. Some great veggies to feed everyday are: Lettuce, parsley, green bell peppers, and Cilantro. One baby carrot a day per pig is ok, just not more than one. Here is a great veggie chart that shows how much of each food you can feed a day: http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...arts-info.html Also, you should feed one pig about a cup of veggies a day, so two cups for you, since you have wo pigs. | Re: Baby Carrots and Broccoli..... No more than 1 baby carrot per pig per day and broccoli no more than one floret per pig twice per week. See the charts that Pumpkin linked to and the sticky for the Sample menus thread. The sample menus will give you a good idea of what you should be feeding. |
