Question Is "crown vetch" safe to feed to cavies?

On the sticky above that has a list of do's and don'ts for better cavy health and to avoid the vet, "vetch" is listed as a poisonous plant. Yet, on the charts, "vetch" is listed as an example of a forage that you can feed your guinea pig.

A few weeks ago I purchased some "crown vetch" seeds at my local nursery. Thank goodness I haven't even planted them yet, because I might have poisoned piggies!

So, which list does vetch belong on?

It kinda belong on both lists. The seeds and moldy parts are poisonous. I've fed the plant part and leaves to my pigs with no ill effects. You do have to give it in tiny portions thought because it can cause photosensitization.

Ok, thanks!

Once its grown, I'll be sure to only feed it in tiny amounts.
