| Pellets and brands I know this is quite a bit to ask but can somebody make, or point me to where I can find, a list of good and bad brands for guinea pig pellets? I live in Canada and they don't have Oxbow here (at least the pet stores that I have looked) but they have Kaytee which is apparently bad. Is there a list I can reference when I'm buying? My current pellets contain alfalfa and I want to get away from that. Any advice? |

| Re: Pellets and brands What brand are you currently feeding? If you can't get Oxbow, the other brands that are suitable in Canada are Proform and Martins. They both are alfalfa based but if you limit it to no more than 1/8 cup per pig per day then you can feed it. It seems like there is one more brand but I can't think of it. I will have to do some thread digging and check but not tonight as I'm too tired. |

| Re: Pellets and brands Did you try looking at the Oxbow website? It lists retailers in Canada. From the list it looks like it's not usually found in pet stores but several veterinary hospitals carry it, depending on where you are located. It's worth a look! Oxbow Pet Products | Canada |

| Re: Pellets and brands Too bad there's only one place in British Columbia I am currently using Hagen Alfalfa-based pellets. My piggy is about 4 months old and I want to switch her to timothy hay, now that she's not exactly a baby cavy. That's why I wanted to find out if anybody knows any specific brands that use timothy hay in cavy pellets? |
