Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Oxbow botanical hay includes hibiscus in it possible ingredients list. Now, those are dehydrated, right? My question is, I have a live hibiscus plant living indoors only in the dining room. We never use pesticides or anything like that on it, we just water it with tap water, and sometimes add organic(not chemicals) plant food to the water. After washing/rinsing, are the leaves and flowers of the hibiscus plant edible/safe to feed to my guinea pigs? How often can I feed the flowers/leaves to them? What about the wood stems, can cavies have those to gnaw on like they can have apple wood to chew on? I think I may purchase another seperate hibiscus plant so I don't have to desecrate this one(I obtained it in 5th grade!). Thanks, your input is much appreciated! |

There are so many different types of Hybiscus I wouldn't give it to them. It is the state flower here and I sat through an hour seminar on Hybiscus plants. I know for a fact that some kinds are used in medicine for constipation in humans(made into tea or extract). There is no way you would want to give something like that to your pigs.Hybiscus is just no spacific enough. There are also several parts of the plant. |

I would also say no. I also want to mention that sometimes responses won't come quickly. You may have to wait hours or even days in some cases. Just be patient and someone will come along and respond. |
