Good quality pellets don't exist here!

I'm in New Zealand and it is just not possible to get timothy pellets here (please correct me if you are in NZ and have found a source!). The only feed manufacturer that makes anything remotely suitable does lucerne (alfalfa) pellets so I'm trying to source some since it's unsure if Daisy is pregnant or not and I'm feeding her as if she is.

Every other brand of pellet has cereals in them. I'm at my wits' end. Most of the "good" brands I have seen mentioned on here are not available.

What's my best solution? Feed smaller quantities of inferior pellets, or feed good quality lucerne and beware of high calcium, or skip pellets altogether and concentrate of fresh grass, hay and veg?

Maybe you'll get lucky here:

Oxbow Pet Products | Netherlands

There is also:

New Zealand

They are vets, but some of the vet's near me carry bags of cavy cuisine.
It is worth a call. They may also be able to refer you somewhere.

If none are close, perhaps call the guys at Welcome to ask about mail order:

You can feed high quality alfalfa (lucerne) pellets but they have to be fed in very limited quantities (no more than 1/8 cup each per day) if your pigs are over 6 months due to the high calcium levels and you must watch the intake of high calcium veggies.

Sounds like a business opportunity here: import hay and pellets for guinea pigs to New Zealand and Australia
