I was ripped off with the hay! lol

So, bought a 15oz bag of oxbow timothy hay for £8.95 - (roughly) $17.91 USD, $19.68 AUD and it was ok, soft, green, smelt fresh everything people claim it to be but there was NO way I could keep spending that much on it. We had to go get some owl food anyway so I looked in the shop and there was some timothy hay and meadow hay so got 2 bags and it was exactly the same as the oxbow timothy but mixed with meadow hay. It was £2.89 - (roughly) $6.30 AUD, $5.16 USD and there was so much more, filled a 1x2x2 and that was when I had used quater of a bag of the hay to cover the cage floor and fill the hay racks. So oxbow was a bit of a rip off. . also does anybody know if KM's will ship to UK?

KM's doesn't ship to the UK unfortunatly. The oxbow here is an awful price I agree, I only buy it occassionally as a result and Burgess timothy hay is horrible looking as is Sunseed's. At the moment my pigs are enyoying Wilsons large hay bags as this is really green at the moment.

I generally find farmers hay is quite good when I have the space in the garage to store it.

Re: I was ripped off with the hay! lol

I recently bought a 40 ounce bag of Oxbow timothy hay and it was right at $10.00, that was not enough to last my 6 boys even a week. I ordered KM hay online and it was under $49.00 for 35 pounds of it with shipping. They loved the Oxbow, but it was higher for the amount I was getting. I just bought it this time waiting for the KM shipment.

The oxbow is sometimes a rip off. At our feedstore the bag of hay is about 10 dollars and pretty small and not great looking. My dad didn't want to pay that so we bought a 48oz bag for 8 dollars and it was fresher and most likey lasts longer than the oxbow. So far we've had it for almost 3 weeks and used half the bag between 2 pigs with unlimited hay.

Any grass hay is suitable to feed as long as it's green, good smelling and free from mold. You don't have to buy oxbow hay.

Re: I was ripped off with the hay! lol

A have bought Oxbow a smaller bag at £4.95 as well as Mountain Meadow Hay and Oat Hay which is great for the gnashers! I spent £20.00 in total and I have 8 pigs, I can't run to that each week!

So I thought Oxbow and mixing meadow in would be fine for them. I must admit though the Mountain Hay smells divine, I could almost eat it myself.
