| Cuts of hay...? What is the difference between 1st cut Timothy Hay, 2nd Cut Timothy Hay, and 3rd Cut Timothy Hay? Is it that they were cut at different times and have different nutritional contents? I am looking at KM's HAYLOFT prices and I noticed they have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cut Timothy Hay. Thanks for reading! | Re: Cuts of hay...? I heard, 1st cut is cut straight from the bottom so you get all the grass hay, 2nd cut is cut twice so you only get the middle part not the seed heads and 3rd cut I dont quite know but I guess its cut 3 times therefor short strands? I have always used 1st cut coz my boys love the seed heads! ![]() |

Re: Cuts of hay...? Careful with that third cut....I think KM coats it in piggy crack because mine now refuse to eat anything else AND they start yelling as soon as they hear it rustle when I pull some out for them.

Re: Cuts of hay...? I just ordered from KM this last Monday and I got 35 pounds, half is 3rd cutting of timothy hay and half of it is bluegrass hay. I've read on here bluegrass is like piggy crack as well. I can't wait to get my shipment on Monday. With shipping it was about $48.00. I know it sounds like a lot of money, but I bought a 40 ounce bag of Oxbow to tide them over and it was right at $10.00.

Re: Cuts of hay...? Apparently KMs third cut is the best it has ever been. Very leafy, green and soft.

Re: Cuts of hay...? Thanks Toadies- That is what I thought. From what everyone is saying, when you buy either Oxbow or KM's, you will never settle for anything less!
