Freezing pellets I was just wondering about freezing pellets. I have seen mentioned that folks freeze their pellets and I was wondering how long are they OK in the freezer? I just ordered 50 pounds of Oxbow because, as we all know, shipping is crazy! The shipping is more than the pellets. Worth it, of course but I'm trying to save what I can.

Re: Freezing pellets I believe that they are okay for up to a year, dont quote me on that but I think I read that here somewhere.

Re: Freezing pellets You can quote Jenni on this because it is true. Pellets are good in the freezer for up to one year. Just take a bag out a day or two before you need them and let them come to room temperature before feeding.

Re: Freezing pellets I heard that the process of thawing can make your pellets moldy, is there any truth to this?

Re: Freezing pellets npm - I use zip top freezer bags. Containers would take up far too much space in my freezer. thief - I suppose it's possible, but I've never had pellets mold on me when I defrosted them. If you make sure there is no moisture and as little air as possible in the bag when they go into the freezer, they should be fine when defrosting back to room temperature.
