Feed babies like adults? Hi, everyone. To recap: I got two four week old GP brothers last weekend. So they are coming up on five weeks old. My question is about introducing new foods. I am leaving a bowl of pellets and timothy hay in the cage all the time. I do not know what they were eating before I got them. So, I have been not feeding them a great deal of fresh foods. Something I read made me think I should be introducing new foods gradually. The first couple of days I had them, I didn't give them any vegetables at all. Then I have been giving them one or two things a day to try. Red leaf lettuce, carrots, dandelion greens and parsley. I have only been giving small amounts (say half a cup). Is that pretty wrong, then? Should I just cut them up a good selection of healthy vegetables and put it in there every day and let nature take over? I don't want to make them sick. Dutch

Re: Feed babies like adults? Keep on feeding them what you are feeding them now, then just introduce a new food every day/week/whatever. You may want to write up a menu following the nutrition chart, then throw in the odd thing every now and then like an apple slice.

Re: Feed babies like adults? I just had to put the food infront of my new guy. It took him about a week to even sample the veggies. He didn't really start eating them until I adopted a slightly older male who knew all about veggies. I think that cavies need another cavy around sometimes to show them how to be a cavy!
