I am looking into buying my hay online in large amounts, because when I buy it from the store it seems to run out quickly and I can't really get that "pig covered in timothy" look that the other members have on their cavies. I found that i can get a 9 pound bag for $30 with shipping, or a 25 pound bag for $45 with shipping. I would really like the 25 pound bag, but I'm worried that the hay might go bad after a while. DOES hay go bad? Does anyone else order in bulk? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: How much hay? Hay can mold if you let it get moist. If you have a dry place to store it with plenty of air circulation, it should be fine indefinitely. That said, 25 lbs is a LARGE volume of hay! Make sure you have somewhere good to store it all.

Re: How much hay? There have been a lot of recent threads asking about bulk hay and storage. Read through a few of those. They are all in this forum section.
