Re: Water for piggies I asked this same question not even a week ago. The answer I was given is that they don't all drink a lot of water. They get most of their water from the veggies. You can soak the veggies in water for a bit before you give them to the piggies. Just take them out and leave them kind of wet and put them in with the piggies. This will insure they are getting enough water!

Re: Water for piggies Some pigs drink a good amount of water, some don't. You also need to check to make sure the water bottle is working properly. Sometimes they get stuck and no water will come out.

Re: Water for piggies If you squeezed it and water came out then it is working properly. Do you feed a lot of wet veggies or a lot of leafy greens like lettuce?

Re: Water for piggies Keep trying different veggies, twozie. A lot of owners have posted that their pigs will only eat bell peppers of certain colors. My pig hates grape tomatoes so much that he'll only touch them to throw them out of his food bowl, but the other day I gave him a chunk of roma tomato and he gobbled it up! It disappeared so fast I offered him a couple more slices, and he ate those, too. You never know what your pig will decide he likes. I've had good luck with parsley, kale, escarole, broccoli, green beans, and the leafy tops of celery. The actual celery stalk he just picks at. Kyle would eat a huge serving of broccoli every day if I let him! On the other hand, I don't think he's ever eaten bell pepper. Try shaving the carrot with a peeler, and see if they eat any more of it. Maybe they'll try it if it's closer to bite size. You could also try some other leafy vegetables, since they like the ones you've given them so far.

Re: Water for piggies Mine love romaine lettuce. In the summer my dad grows some in his garden. Free lettuce, yay! Mine also like the red leaf lettuce. Apples and strawberries are other good ones to try. I like to pick a day that I don't have any major plans and I just go and browse thru the produce section with my list from this site of the suggested veggies and fruits to feed them. I have fun looking for different colors, textures, or just something that I would like to eat to find a variety of offerings for my boys.

Re: Water for piggies It took my piggies three weeks of presenting veggies each day before they wpuld eat bell peppers. Now, they are gobbled up. Just keep trying. Its like a toddler, they don't want to eat the unfamiliar, but after a while they give in!

Re: Water for piggies Hi. I'm having a similar water problem with my guinea pig. I've had her for about 2 weeks and I had been putting Vitamin C drops in her water because that's what we did when I had a guinea pig when I was younger. I found out these are bad and stopped putting them in her water but it seems like she isn't drinking at all. Do you guys think she got used to the drops and now water tastes wierd? I'm not sure what to do next...
