Question KM's Hay question

After much consideration (and realizing it's a 1/3 of the cost of the hay I'm getting now), I've decided to order a 25lb box of KM's hay. However, I have a couple questions before I finalize the order:

1)How big (dimensions please) is the 25lb box?

2)I know it has to be store in a cool, dry location. How well does it keep in sealed Rubbermaid(tm) tubs?

Re: KM's Hay question

I just recieved my first order of KM last Wednesday. It is wonderful by the way.

I ordered 9 pounds of Timothy hay and 20 pounds of food. It came in a box that was approx. 2 ft. x 2 ft. x 2 ft.

I was told it is best to open the shipping box and remove the bag of hay, turn it upside down and put it back in the box, and carefully remove the plastic bag from the hay(leaving the hay in the box without the bag. This way you have the hay in the open box and it will stay fresh for several months to a year this way.

I am afraid if you put it in a closed rubbermaid tote it may stay to moist. This hay will come to you VERY moist and fresh.

I hope this helped a bit! Have a great day!

Re: KM's Hay question

If all you are ordering is the hay, the box will be approximately an 18-24" cube. Linda (KM) is really good about answering emails if you contact her through their website though, so she would be able to give you a more exact answer.

npm was correct about the rubbermaid container. Do NOT put the lid on it. If you want to put your hay in a container, make sure to leave it open, so the humidity can not collect in the hay. The extra moisture would make your hay mold.
