Question Carrots?

I have a bag of baby carrots, of which the experation date is January 2nd. I soaked them in water however they still appear very dry and cracked. Should I still feed them to my guinea pigs? My Dad ate one and says that they are fine and I am overreacting...

Re: Carrots?

I would assume they are fine. As long as they aren't rubbery or slimey, you should be ok. I don't think I ever thought to look at the expiration date on my bags of carrots.

Re: Carrots?

I still eat them when they are like that - i usually soak them overnight in water in the fridge, and although they don't look too good - they still taste good with a little ranch dressing

I'm sure pigs would prefer fresher food... but if Id eat it, I'm sure they would too

Re: Carrots?

I never looked at the expiration date on my carrots, either! Probably since most produce doesn't have one. My rule is that if my husband or I would eat it in that condition, then it's good enough for the pigs.

Exclamation Re: Carrots?

I would also feed them. I go by a similar rule than what the previous post was. If I wouldn't eat it, then my guinea pig shouldn't.
