Kaytee Alfalfa Cubes?

I bought these tonight, I thought they would be good, but I'm double checking with everything on here first! I know store treats usually aren't good, but I don't see how this could be bad as it's alfalfa... has anyone given them to their pigs?

Here's a picture:

Re: Kaytee Alfalfa Cubes?

Im interested in these too. I am introducing my new baby to my other pig tomorrow and want to use these for baby lap time so the older pig doesnt eat alfalfa hay. It seems as if it would be less messy than regular hay. I do know that these cubes are NOT a substitute for hay.

Re: Kaytee Alfalfa Cubes?

I just picked some up to from the pet supply store in town. I am feeding them to my pregnant piggie! I think they are great!

Re: Kaytee Alfalfa Cubes?

I use both the timothy and alfalfa cubes as treats. My boys enjoy them for a change. Just be careful how much alfalfa that you give them, too much isn't good.

Re: Kaytee Alfalfa Cubes?

Do not use these as a substitute for loose hay. They are fine in moderation for a once in a while treat. The problem is they are compacted and cavies need long strands of loose hay to help wear down their molars.

Exclamation Re: Kaytee Alfalfa Cubes?

I put a post up a few weeks ago asking the same thing. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...les-cubes.html
If your pig(s) are young, then it would be okay.(Give loose hay) But if not, I would try to avoid them at all costs!
