Question Broken in shipment

The Cavy Cuisine I ordered from Oxbow arrived today, and sometime during shipment, the bag split open and most of the pellets were all over the box. It had to be shipped all the way across the country, and I'm afraid it might have gotten contaminated somehow. My gut says not to feed it to them and try to get another unopened bag, cause to me it's the same thing as buying a ripped bag from a store...and I wouldn't do that! Should I listen to it or just stop being silly and give it to them? What's everybody think?

I don't think it would be contaminated... some may say don't but I think it should be ok.

However, I would contact Oxbow and let them know what happened, and ask them to comp. you another bag for free. They SHOULD do it. They sent you a damaged product.

I agree with the last post.

It should be fine because it stays in the box and it's not wet or anything. I buy mine from a local petstore so I lucked out on having to pay for that shipping. Most companies will send you a free one or something if something like that happens.

I also agree. Actually, this happened the last time I ordered oxbow. One of the bags was opened and spilled into the box/onto the floor when I took the bag out. I salvaged most of the pellets and fed it to the pigs. I forgot to report it, but I would defiantly go ahead and do so.

It should be fine to feed them. But still report it. They may not comp you a free bag, but at least they may look into their shipping department to make adjustments so it doesn't happen again.

I got my order of oxbow today as well- the bags were mutilated. I had ordered (2) 10lb bags of cavy cuisine and (1) 3lb bag of regal rat. Everything was inside a large clear garbage bag. Pellets were everywhere (obviously not 23lbs worth) and the bags were just sitting there in pieces, no pellets in them. There were little tiny pieces (maybe 5 total) of the regal rat (its heart shaped) but the bag was no where to be seen. I immediately called the number on the bag.

I'm SO glad I called. She asked me what the box looked like- It was in perfect condition, but according to her if it doesn't have a oxbow label, its not the original box it was shipped in. Apparently, UPS had killed the order during delivery, threw away the regal rat, and put the remaining cavy cuisine + bags in a garbage bag. Not good. She said they will resend everything for free and get it here by Wend at the latest. I'm throwing all this away and using the backup mazuri that I ended up buying..

Please call them- they said they will resend anytime that it arrives damaged. Yay for Oxbow!

Oxbow will usually replace damaged products. I don't like their new red bags. I think the old white ones were sturdier.

Is Oxbow the BEST? i have it from a feed store way down south of us but the other store closer don't carry it. Should i drive for it or get something comp. on the market. Any suggestions?

Its really an opinion of it being the BEST. Basically its tied in first with KM's. I defiantly recommend it!

The lady I talked with on the phone said something about them creating new bags that will be available soon. Rabbit pellet bags are new and the CC is next. I guess a lot of people complained.
