Question How much, and how often

How much do you feed guinea pigs and how often? I have no clue how much or how often to feed them!

Relax! Take a deep breath. =) People don't sit and read the board all day. Sometimes it takes a bit to get a reply.

Also, you are asking a lot of questions that are easily found via the search option. If you want answers faster, I would highly recommend searching to see if others have asked the same question.

Here is a great page on diet.

Hope this helps.

I'm sorry! OK, I'll try that, I guess I didn't this time because last time I did that it took over an hour to find. I'll do that from now on first! Thanks!

Re: How much, and how often

The nutrition charts here also have good info about how to feed and how much/how often.

Re: How much, and how often

I read the link, and it only says how much they eat a day, I want to know how often to feed them. Does it depend on the piggy?

Re: How much, and how often

From guinealynx
Quote:
1/8 cup of pellets a day
Put 1/8 cup of pellets (per pig) in the cage once a day. Or if you have 2 pigs and really feel like you need to put pellets in more than once a day, put 1/8 in the morning and 1/8 at night.

I feed my boys 1 cup of vegetables each in the morning and at night. (Total of 2 cups veggies per pig per day, 8 cups total for 4 pigs.) One scoop pellets per cage (which is 1/4 cup scoop, so 1/8 cup per pig) at night. If they don't eat all the pellets, I don't give them quite as much the next time.

It doesn't really matter when or how often you feed. Just be consistent and don't exceed the maximum portions or give less than the minimum portions.

AT LEAST 1 cup veggies per day per pig.
NO MORE THAN 1/8 cup pellets per pig per day.
UNLIMITED grass hay. They should never run out of hay.

Re: How much, and how often

OK, thanks! I'm adopting two so I'll feed them twice a day, and they'll deffinately(sp?) get veggies! We eat a lot of veggies! And, yup unlimited hay all the way!
