Observation

A few weeks ago we were near a feed store and decided to go in to get some hay. They had oxbow but it was more expensive for less hay so we opted for our usual brand of hay. We normally get kaytee brand hay. I noticed that the hay at the feed store was very green and smelled very good. Today we got the same hay from petco. One thing I noticed first was it wasn't as green as the stuff from the feedstore. When we got home it also didn't smell as good as the other hay. I still had the bag from the other hay and it had it's price sticker on it. That hay the 48oz bag was 8 dollars. I asked my dad for the petco recipt and the same size badder quilty was 12 dollars. So in my observation the feedstore had the better deal, fresher hay, lower cost. I told my dad about this and how getting the better hay would save him 4 dollars and that would be half the price toward another bag.He said we would probably now only buy our hay from the feedstore and most likey we will buy some oxbow pellets too.I never really noticed this till today because we get most of our hay from target first time a few weeks ago we got it from the feed store.

Re: Observation

Ya, feed stores are usually a way better deal. Also, then your not giving your money to petco. At the feed store, they probably go through hay alot, so it comes in more often, so is fresher. At petco, who knows how long the hay stays on the shelf. I am not so lucky, I have to buy from a pet supply store,(that does not sell animals) I am right smack in the middle of the city.

Re: Observation

Yeah I was comparing prices and the feedstore had some better deals. They had 3 brands of hay and oxbow pellets. The petco we got the hay from is very small and doesnt have any animals I read this sign on the cages and it pretty much said they haven't been selling enough of certain animals so they aren't selling those at all and that the people should talk to a sales person so they could go to another store. That they had one tank of fish I'm not even sure if they were forsale and no other animals. Before we went there somewhere in my mind I knew they were losing buisness.

Re: Observation

I know I saw a post, not sure if it was on here or another forum, today where someone said they got a huge bin bag full of Supa Excel for £12.99 at a feedstore, and I have to the bigger but small bag for about £7.99 i think it is, could be more from Pets at Home which sell animals (no, there isnt a place that sells it elsewhere that does not sell animals - apart from a vets but they only sell the small bag and I cant offord to do it that way )
