Mixed Greens??

I dont feed Taz, my guinea pig fresh vegies daily though I know I should, but when I do he usually gets a few leafs of Romane Lettus and a few other vegies mixed in like Carrots, Celery or something of that nature. Anyway my mom buys this thing of mixed baby greens for my sister and she usually never eats them and they go to waste. So I figure I should be feeding them to my guinea pig but im not sure if he is able to eat everything in the mix. Another good thing is that it is all Organic so I dont have to worry about any pesticides or anything. This is a list of the ingredients,

Baby (Red and Green Romaine, Red and Green Oak Leaf, Lollo Rossa, Tango)
Red and Green Swiss Chard
Mizuna
Aruguta
Frisee
and Radicchio.

Im not quite sure what most of them are but I wanted to make sure that this would be alright to feed once or twice weekly at least. Nickey and Taz.

Re: Mixed Greens??

Yup - this is the kind of thing you could be feeding your guinea pig every day!

It is vitally important for their health that they get a good portion of vitamin c rich veggies daily. Along with the lettuce mix (which is basically what your mix is), you need to offer bell pepper, coriander/cilantro, courgette/zuccini, a baby carrot, cherry tomato, romaine leaves, cucumber and lots of other veg. Here is a good link to other veggie ideas.

Do you have good quality hay available constantly too? This is just as important as the daily veg and water!

Re: Mixed Greens??

Yeah he gets Hay daily Usually Timmothy but the store was out last time i got a supply so i got Alfalfa instead (which i dont think he cares for cause he dont squeel for it like the other stuff and he dont eat as much of it.).. I also feed him a pellet mix and give him fresh water daily. Fresh Vegies are usually feed 2 or 3 times a week but i can start feeding them more often and thanks for the link.

Re: Mixed Greens??

Hi Nicky2007.

My only advise is to watch your piggy carfully when you feed the mixes. One of the mixes I was buying hasd a lettuce in it that didn't agree with my piggie's tummy.

You should be ok though.
Cheers!
