I need Help! Carrots, Carrots, and More Carrots!

I need help. Chex will only eat carrots. No matter what. He will nibble on romaine lettuce but thats it!
Any advice on getting him to eat a variety? I have tried alot of stuff, and have even rub carrots all over the other stuff. I need help on how to get him to eat more veggies please!

Carrots are more of a treat veggie. There is little nutrition in them and they are high in A and oxalic acid. If you've only tried lettuce a couple times, know that sometimes it takes weeks to get them to eat new foods. I would ditch the carrot and only try lettuce and cilantro for the next week. Put 1/2 leaf of lettuce in the cage and leave it in there for 2-3 hours and then remove any uneaten portion. Try this a couple times per day. As for the cilantro, put 2-3 pieces in there and leave it for about the same amount of time.

Pigs that have never had veggies take time to get accustomed to them. It may take days or weeks before he eats new things. Just be patient and keep offering.

In the meantime, your pig may need a C supplement. Are you providing one?

If you are feeding your pig carrots it is good to give him one baby carrot per meal. When I introduced veggies to my first pig, he was a pet-store pig it took a long time before he realized that veggies were yummy.

Ok. Ill make sure to get more lettuce. Ill immediatly start with the cilantro I think we have some of that. I will stop the carrots to. I was only feeding him one baby carrot a day.

Is it true he might eat if he sees another piggy eating? I am pigsittting, for my friend. I think her piggy will like veggies, because as far as I know, he's never had any.

Yes he might eat if he sees another eating it. He might think of it as competition and try to eat the veggie before the other. Its worth a try.

One thing my girls really like is a sweet red bell pepper. Give that a try also.
Good luck!
