Hearts of Romaine This may be a prretty stupid question, but are hearts of romaine just as good as romaine lettuce? I give my boys red leaf lettuce, but as we're on a tight budget the next week or so- would hearts of romaine be okay? Personally, I've stayed away from it because the outer leaves are just so much leafier and I know I'd prefer to eat leafier lettuce. However, I promised my husband I'd ask since he points it out at Costco every time we go. Tight budget or not, they'll continue being fed red leaf or green leaf if hearts of romaine isn't nutritional enough for them. Thanks.

Re: Hearts of Romaine Good question, I would not think there would be any difference. I also buy the 6-pack Romain hearts at Costco. The pigs certainly don't complain!

Re: Hearts of Romaine You can feed romaine and green leaf on top of red leaf lettuce. It's usually better to feed a variety of greens. The romaine hearts are fine. It's just regular romaine stripped of the outer leaves.

Re: Hearts of Romaine Where I shop its more expensive to buy just the hearts than a whole romaine. The hearts taste better so thats what I eat if I eat some myself.
