1 piggy eats most the pellets

I have 2 boars, Chewie and Charlie. I feed Mazuri 5664, since its alfalfa based I measure out 1/4th a cup a day for them to share (1/8th each) but ushally Chewie eats almost all of them and Charlie only get a bite or two. So it ends up Chewie gets way over 1/8th and Charlie gets alot less. Is there anyway I can stop this. Also Chewie is much bigger than Charlie, Chewie is 11mths and weighs 3ib 5oz, Charlie is 14mths and he weighs 2ib 8 oz, could this be part of it?

Re: 1 piggy eats most the pellets

I think it should be normal. Some eats more and some less.
As long as both are having their fair share of hays and freshes it would be ok.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Re: 1 piggy eats most the pellets

Have you tried feeding them in separate bowls in different areas of the cage so they each have their own food instead of sharing?

I have tried seperate bowls, he just eats all of his and moves on to Charlie's. They have a balanced veggie menu, and oodles of timothy hay.

Re: 1 piggy eats most the pellets

Try giving them the pellets twice per day. 1/8 cup at a time and see if there is any difference. As I've stated before, pellets are the least part of the diet so if one is eating a bit more than the other it could be that the one pig doesn't like pellets all that much or the other just really likes them. I really wouldn't worry about it so much if they both get unlimited hay and at least a cup of veggies each daily.
