| First Salad for two I want (and need) to give my boys their very first salad ever today. What should I give them? I was planning on 3 leaves of Chard (a relative of spinach), 1/2 of a regular carrot, 2 slices of fuji apple (with skin). Is that good. |

| Re: First Salad for two Actually that's not a good salad to start with. I'd start with some lettuce (romaine, red leaf, green leaf, boston/butterhead, etc). The chard is ok and some bell pepper. Carrot is very high in A and oxalic acid and they should be given no more than the equivalent of a small/medium sized baby carrot per day but it's more of a treat veggie. Apples are fruit and fruits should only be given about 1-2 times per week as they are high in sugars and apples are acidic and can cause mouth sores. You want a good balanced daily diet with variety that you can add in and rotate around. Have you seen the nutrition charts http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...arts-info.html or the sample menus http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...ie-menus.html? |
