Tips on convincing parents for better quality food and hay Right now my boys are eating sunseed pellets and kaytee hay. I am not proud of this and I am despretly trying to change it. The hay isnt very soft even though it is really green. The pellets are alfalfa based, they dont have seeds and stuff in them except a few carrot chips (which I pick out) but they still arnet very good. I want to order the food and hay from kleenmama's but my parents dont want too. I have made price chart things that show how much money we would save but they dont like to order things online, they are really oldfashioned, go shoot your dinner, born and raised on the farm sorta people and they have never ordered anything online before except once, they got me the gilmore girls seasons from amazon, but thats it. There are no stores anywhere near(within an hour) my house that sell oxbow, I checked and there was a feed store I called and they no longer have it grrr.... and I was wandering I you guys had any tips on making them want too. And oh ya, they would let me if I bought it, but I dont have a credit card, so I cant. ~* Jenni and piggys*~ P.S. sorry if this is in the wrong spot, its about diet and nutrition but I dont know if its the right place casue it dosent really fit in with the other threads, but I put it here because it seemed the most right, if that makes any sense.

Re: Tips on convincing parents for better quality food and hay Sunseed is one of the very low quality feeds. It's down there with Hartz and 8-in-1 (which is owned by Hartz). Could you possibly find Mazuri 5664 in your area? It's much better quality than Sunseed. As for the hay, have you checked into maybe getting it by the bale from feedstores? There are alternatives to buying online but you have to be able to find them. Have you asked your parents why they are against getting the food and hay online? There are just some people who don't trust internet shopping. I've been burned a couple times on ebay but most of my experiences have been positive so I have no qualms about buying online. If you pay for your own pigs food and hay, I think KM may have options to mail in orders with a money order as an alternative to ordering it online. You could check out her site to find out. If you have your own money, there are now prepaid Visa and Mastercards that you and your parents could check into getting also.

Re: Tips on convincing parents for better quality food and hay They dont like internet shopping becasue they dont trust it and they dont like to pay shipping. I never thought of one of the prepaid cards, that is a great idea, I might do that. What kind of stores sell Mazuri? Is there a website that may have a store locator on it?

Re: Tips on convincing parents for better quality food and hay Mazuri Home is the site. I am not sure if they have a store locator on there. I know it's found in many feedstores and a few petstores. Just make sure to get Mazuri 5664 not any other formula. It's also alfalfa based but much better than sunseed. It has to be fed in very limited amounts to adults because it is alfalfa based. I feed my own herd this brand.

Re: Tips on convincing parents for better quality food and hay Thank you so much, they did have a store locator and I found 2 feedstores, one which I buy my shaving from, but I'm almost 100% sure they dont have it and a new one that I've never been too. I'm gonna call in the morning to see if they have it, I hope they do but I have major doubts, if they dont I might be able to work out some agreement with them since its a family owned store and they are really nice and we are regular customers and they already buy mazuri products(at least the store locator says they do) so it would problemly be easy just to add some mazuri 5664 guiena pig food to the list. Thank you so much. Fingers crossed

Re: Tips on convincing parents for better quality food and hay Good luck! If they don't have it, you might want to try asking some local vets if they carry Oxbow or any other quality piggy food. I know my vet does, but the vets aren't usually listed on Oxbow's store locater.

Re: Tips on convincing parents for better quality food and hay I completely understand your excitment! Whenever I bought my boys their first bale of KM's hay and pellets, I couldn't wait to see their reactions. I have since also purchased Oxbow hay and pellets. I wanted to see which they liked better! Haha! You may want to ask that store what kind of hay they have. Maybe mention to them about Oxbow and see if they can work out some kind of deal for you. It's a family owned business so they have more say over what they sale and don't sale than a chained pet store. I bet they could take the suggestoin into consideration for you.
