Bails of hay? I was wondering if I could lay down normal yard hay that I have left over from seeding me yard. Can I lay this down as my bedding or for the pigs to play in? Thanks in advance.

Re: Bails of hay? Is it hay or straw? normally people use straw for their yards, are you sure it isnt straw. Well if it is hay, it would depend on the quality and cleanliness and what not. Where did you get it from? becasue most likely you got the lowest quality and when geting hay for pigs you want horse quality.

Re: Bails of hay? I am not sure about any. My dad bought it for our yard not me. But I just asked him and he said it is straw so I guess I can't use it.

Re: Bails of hay? I would not use straw as a bedding material. Straw is not absorbant and will stink real quick. Straw is very stiff and could cause eye injuries.
