Re: Help with variety

I'm more referring to cat/dog feces than small wild animal feces. When I get grass/other forages from the yard, I bring it in and wash it then put it in the drainer for a few minutes to let the excess water go off then give it to the pigs. When I take them outside in the spring and fall to graze on the grass, I just pick an area, set up some grids and put them into the area to graze for a bit then bring them back in.

I remember once a longggg time ago that I took the hose and sprayed the grass off where I wanted to put them in the yard and then put the pigs out there about an hour later. Well, I ended up with 5 sets of muddy pig feet because the ground was still wet even though the grass was dry. Now I usually just take them out a few hours after it's rained and let them graze. I also normally only take them out on days where the outside temp is no higher than 80F. Usually spring and fall as it's too hot in the summer.

Re: Help with variety

Dandelion greens need to be fed about every 3 days due to the high calcium content. They cannot be fed on a daily basis. Fresh grass can be fed daily though if you have access to any.

Re: Help with variety

Shoot I have been feeding them daily for 6 days...
Are they going to be o.k.?
What can I feed daily that is cheap and they'd like other than romaine? Something that lasts a while

Re: Help with variety

They will be ok, just watch for calcium spots in the cage if you use fleece. And don't feed them dandelion leaves again for a few days. Do you have access to fresh grass? If you give them a couple varieties of lettuce daily, some cilantro, a baby carrot, bell pepper and can give them fresh grass that would be good then add in some extra.

Re: Help with variety

Corn husks can be fed daily, and you can often get them free, at least while corn is in season. Our grocery store has a bin where people can leave the husks from the corn they buy, then people who want them can just take them for free! It is our little Frisky's favorite food -- she will be sad when corn goes out of season!
