Re: Feeding a baby piggie - questions

Human interaction to a guinea pig isn't the same as having another guinea pig around to munch on hay with and play around with. We don't speak the same language as them.

I missed that carrot wasn't a 100g serving on the chart, just noted that it was yellow.
Those aren't serving sizes on the charts. The charts basically just list how much of a particular thing (A, C, Ca, Ph, etc.) is in that amount of the veggie/fruit. The sample menus will help you figure out about how much of a particular thing to feed.

Re: Feeding a baby piggie - questions

I'd like to build her diet at least partly out of forages (until the snow flies, at least) to keep the costs down. If someone ever gets a chance, I'd love to see a sample diet that includes more forages.

We found a few dandelion leaves left, she liked those. She went straight for the green pepper at first, and ate it enthusiastically, but only took a few bites, then left it aside. We keep offering more green pepper, but she hasn't gone for it since. She ate some lettuce leaves (not iceberg! i got a bag of mixed baby lettuces that I like to eat myself) but hasn't taken much interest in the carrot greens we offered.

We'll keep offering the things she hasn't eaten yet, to give her time to get used to them. But I'm curious about her reaction to the green pepper. She was so excited at first, then just stopped eating it. I wonder if it upset her tummy or something.

Thanks for everyone's help!
