New piggy not eating veg/hay

I finally got a friend for Pablo through an ad in my locaL paper and he is currently in quarantine. The problem is though he doesnt eat any of his hay or any veg I give him. I know he did have access to hay and veg in his old home and I saw the cage so how can I get him eating? He eats his pellets fine though.

We've only had him two days so I know hes probably just getting used to his surroundings but I was just wondering what I should do.
Thanks

Re: New piggy not eating veg/hay

My new piggie won't tough veggies either. It took her a couple of days to get used to the hay. I am currently giving her liquid Vitamin C through a syringe to make sure she gets enough. When you introduce your new piggie to your previous one, he will see the other one eating veggies and probably start on his own. Don't worry and just try some lettuce or cilantro here and there and leave it in the cage for a few hours. If it doesn't work, just wait until introductions but make sure she gets vitamin C. You can get liquid vitamin C or chewable tablets but do NOT add any into his water. I bought tablets (no added ingredients) and cut it into the right amount then crushed it, added a little water, and fed it to her with a syringe. Good luck

Pablosmummy I am having the same problem you are right now. I'm hoping that once the girls get out of quarantine they''ll see my other two munching away and join in!

I agree. Once they see other pigs eating the veggies they might realize that it isn't a bad thing and is really good for them. Just keep encouraging and don't give up.

Just keep offering the veggies and keep an unlimited supply of hay in the cage.

Re: New piggy not eating veg/hay

Well Flat Stanley is eating his hay now at least, not touching any veg. I'll keep trying. He's got two and a half weeks to go before I can start introducing him to Pablo, will he be ok on just his pellets and hay? He has the Pets at home pellets which have added vitamin c in..is that enough?
