| Two new girls not eating hay or veggies I've just adopted 2 new girls. I've had them almost a week and a half now. They're doing very well for the most part, except they haven't eaten any hay, and the only veggies they've eaten are carrots, no lettuce, cilantro, or green pepper which I've tried several times to give them. I'm a little worried that in their previous life all they were fed was pellets and carrots. Here's my question: Should I try pulling the pellets, and just giving hay and then extra veggies? Or should I just continue with the hay/pellets/veggies and they will eventually start to try everything? And, my other worry is that I feed the Mazuri alfalfa pellets (1/8 cup per day per pig)...if they're eating almost solely pellets, should I start giving them timothy based pellets? Thanks in advance! |

| Re: Two new girls not eating hay or veggies How old are the pigs? Sometimes it takes a while to get them to eat new veggies. My suggestion is to keep trying. Withhold the carrot and give them lettuces, cilantro and the bell pepper. Leave the veggies in the cage for several hours. Don't withhold the pellets. Quote:

| Re: Two new girls not eating hay or veggies One pig is 2 years old, the other about 6 months. Thanks Ly, I will not give any more carrot, and keep with the leafy greens...I'm sure once they try they won't be able to resist! |

| Re: Two new girls not eating hay or veggies When they start eating their leafy greens and bell pepper, you can then give each a baby carrot again. |
