| I was wandering if this is the proper amount of salad for my Guinea Pigs. They each get one of these. It's not a dinner plate it's a bowl. The salad consists of Green Leaf lettus(sorta hidden), cilantro, carrots, apple, tomato, and bell pepper. In this pic. there are a few oats on it but I dont put them on it anymore. Each pig get one bowl every night. Is this enough vitamin c and stuff to keep them helathy and happy. Oh ya and appart from this they get unlimited hay and pellets, of course. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...dlixard001.jpg Last edited by Ly&Pigs : 07-03-07 at 06:06 pm. | Re: Is this a proper amount of salad? From what I can see you could use a bit of modification. You have too much carrot per pig. They need no more than 1 medium sized baby carrot each per day. You can increase the amount of bell pepper which is high in C. Fruits should only be given about 1-2 times per week. I'd also watch tomatoes because they are acidic and can cause mouth sores. Usually it's best to give tomato in a portion size equaling that of a cherry/grape sized tomato. The overall portion size looks good and looks to be at or over 1 cup. |
