other good pellet brands.

I was reading throught the archives about the best kind of pellet and it seemed that Oxbow, and KM were the only two that you approved of.
But I dont have any distributors of Oxbow near and shipping is not an option because I am a youngin' without a credit card(probally a good thing) and im sure there has to be at least one other decent brand of pellet that the local petstore or petsmart/co would carry. Or is there?

What pellet brand are you giving them right now? What pellet brands are available to you?

I feed Mazuri brand of pellets, which is a plain alfalfa based pellet, I think you can buy it at major petstores. You just have to limit the amounts you give them. I have two piggies, and in their dish they get 1/4 cup per day (that's total, not each).

I am using the same stuff as heatherbunnie, mazuri, just the plain rabbit pellet looking stuff. There is a odd brand that my local pet store that carries called Hutch Klub, ive never looked at whats in it, but its a different food than what walmarts have. I have 3 petstores/feed stores in my area, so if theres any good brands they just might have let me know.

Re: other good pellet brands.

Mazuri is definitely the 3rd pellet the forum recommends. Just make sure it is for guinea pigs, not rabbits, and is the formula that is just pellets. Mazuri also makes a guinea pig food that is a mixed blend. You do not want that one. If you stay with the Mazuri, make sure you feed mostly lower calcium veggies and strictly limit the pellets for adult pigs. Since Mazuri is alfalfa based, you don't want to feed any more than 1/4cup per pig per day.

If you can get a list of ingredients and nutrition information on the Hutch Klub pellets, we can tell you if those would be acceptable.

Re: other good pellet brands.

I use Mazuri pellets and my cavies enjoy them ALOT. Make sure you also have pure Timothy or other good grass hay available at all times since it is an alfalfa based pellet.

The Mazuri you want is Mazuri 5664. It's formulated for guinea pigs and is a plain pellet.

I missed this question earlier, but will answer it now. There are no decent pellets that PetNotSoSmart and PetStupid carry unless they carry Mazuri. The rest of that stuff is pure crap.
