I haven't posted in awhile, but I have a question if anyone knows. The other day my piggie, Petunia, (aka Tunes) showed great interest in a bowl of ice cream I was eating. I put a little on my finger tip expecting her to turn her nose up at it. She and her two cage mates are ALWAYS interested in what I'm eating but never actually want it unless it's a raw veggie of some sort. But she actually nibbled it off my finger tip! I pulled my finger back because I didn't know if it would hurt her or not. Anyone know the answer?

Re: Ice cream pig? No ice cream. It's too high in fat, sugar and GPs are lactose intolerant. You can make your pig very sick.

Re: Ice cream pig? Absolutely no dairy products! Cavies are intolerant to them. I know it's really hard to watch your little one smell something good on your hands after you just ate it. But we have remember that, just like our own diets, just because it's delicious - doesn't mean it's good for you!!

Re: Ice cream pig? Icecream is a big no-no. Like Wheek Weak said, just because they like it doesn't mean it's good for them. Just like dogs loving chocolate which kills them if they eat too much of it.

Re: Ice cream pig? I haven't given any to her because I suspected it wasn't good..when in doubt I don't feed it..it just totally surprised me when she actually licked at it..But Tunes has always been my bold one..walking right up to the dog..trying ice cream..I always have to protect her from herself! Once again thanks everyone. Jude

Re: Ice cream pig? Pigs will eat the strangest things. How may of us have pigs that eat the coroplast (when they have hay and chew toy options) or will eat a plastic bag too close to their cage? On another forum recently someone's toddler came across and ate a pig poo. Kids and animals will put just about anything in their mouths.

Re: Ice cream pig? That is for sure. Several years ago, I was sitting on the livingroom floor in front of the television. I had a plate of angel hair in front of me on a low "lap table". Mama Bear was out having play time. Mama Bear approached on my left and started sniffing toward the plate. I shooed her away. She trotted around to my right, sniffed, stuck her head in the plate quick as lightning, grabbed a mouthful, and zipped off. Can anyone picture a grown woman chasing around a TSW teddy sow, who had a six inch strand of angel hair pasta hanging out of her mouth?
