| What ingredients to look for? I have yet to get a guinea pig, and was looking at some guinea pig food at the pet store and found a great big bag of guinea pig food for a good price. I checked the ingredients and the first one was dehydrated alfalfa meal, and then something with soybean in it. Soybean was repeated 3 times in a row after the dehydrated alfalfa meal. Is this a good food or not? If not, what should I look for in food? Is there brand reccomendations? |

| Re: What ingredients to look for? I don't know about the ingredients, but I do know that it is not good to buy a big bag of food (unless you have loads of pigs XD) because if it is left for a long time then it can loose it's nutritional value. Just a thought. |

| Re: What ingredients to look for? What was the name of the food? Was it a plain pellet or a pellet mix? Most of the pellets on the market today aren't very good. The top brands are Oxbow (Oxbow Pet Products | Welcome) and Kleenmama's pellets (www.kmshayloft.com). In Canada, it would be Oxbow, Martin's and Proform. |
