Cat Grass OK?

Hey!
I was wondering wether cat grass is safe for guinea pigs. I bought a little "instant cat grass" bed recently, and it occured to me that Oda and Sherman might like to have one in their cage. I've given them little bits of it and they love it, but I'm afraid it may not be safe for them to eat. Also, if it was placed in their cage is there a possibility that they may eat too much of it?

Since I last posted I've built a second level onto my c&c 2x4 cage and they really love it. So much fun!
Thanks,
Tere

I'm not sure but to add to your question I wanted to ask if when you do add grass to the cage won't it start smelling or die when they pee and poo on it?

Re: Cat Grass OK?

I have cat grass too and my pigs love it. I just leave out and when they have floor tme they indulge. i was thinking of plating some more Grass in a planter. All my animals love grass ao its would be like an animal buffet. I had a little white tub, 5" x 6", amd I offered it to the pigs one tme and they ate it all so now I'm letting it grow back.

Re: Cat Grass OK?

I am wanting to do the same thing now that we are moved. I want to take some type of container, thinking about a cat litter box, and platning grass in it so they can have some during floor time. Was just wondering the best way to go about it. Any suggestions?

Re: Cat Grass OK?

Cat grass is fine. Usually it's something like wheat grass or lemon grass which are healthy treats for GPs.

Re: Cat Grass OK?

Great, I'm glad it's considered safe, because they do really like it. Thanks everyone, for replying.
