You actually can't overdose on Vitamin C, because it is a water soluble vitamin. The excess passes in the urine. However, large amounts of vitamin C over time can cause a type of "pseudo-scurvy", where the body of the guinea pig gets used to having those large amounts, and develops scurvy when put back on a 'normal' dose. |

There are no symptoms unless, as Jennicat said, you drop them down to a normal dose. They will then exhibit signs of scurvy even though they are technically getting a proper amount of Vit C. Pseudo scurvey usually takes a long time on a high dose of Vit C to develop. Overdosing Vit C once and a while, or even for a month or 2, won't normally do it. |
