Potato's

I am getting ready to serve my pigs some veggies and I was wondering if they can have potato's ? I searched here and on GL and found some saying NO and some saying they have. I wanted to give them something different but don't want to harm them. I usually give them a mix of greens, peppers, cucumbers, carrots and the occasional fruit.

Re: Potato's

Your veggie mix sounds good but do not feed potatos.

Potatos are very starchy and contain oxalic acid which is bad for piggies. Green skin, the eyes and the sprouts are toxic as well. (For humans too)

Re: Potato's

I think they can have sweet potato but very very rarely. And as said above, normal potatoes are a complete no no.

Re: Potato's

I have a little planter with grass growning, for the cats on the floor. While they were out for floor time they found the gold mind and they had a blast eating all the cats treat. Thanks for clearing up the potato idea. I try to give them something different every week along with their normal veggies. I like to spice up veggie time for them.

Re: Potato's

The chart that Ly&pigs set up under "Cavy Nutrition Charts" has been very helpful when it comes to feeding my pig and I don't see potatos other than Sweet Potatos and their leaves listed. Id use the chart as a guide. It even has how often they can be fed. I love it!!
