[FONT=Arial]I want to make my guys some all natural treats and I've read that I can use honey to hold ingredients together(just a little bit). What I want to know is-do I use regular honey or sugar-free?Also,I saw some stuff that was sugar-free imitation honey:how about that? Also, one time, one of my furbabies had to take medicine that must have tasted awful,so the vet put something in it that made it taste & smell like molasses.I don't know if he used real molasses or not.Is molasses safe to use?How about karo syrup or some kind of molasses flavoring?Sugar-free or regular? That's alot of questions,I know...sorry!(Even if somebody only knows the answer to one of the questions...that's OK!) |

The best natural treats are pieces of veggies and fruit. I would not ever give my pigs honey as it contains too much sugar and pigs are prone to diabetes. |

I believe pellets are held together using molasses or something of the sort? I agree with newton though, I would avoid anything sugary like that. The best treat you can give them is fresh fruits and veggies, and maybe the occasional dehydrated fruit that isn't treated with preservatives or sugars. |

Honey is like pure sugar that bees manufacture. It's best to avoid honey and molasses. Yes, many pellet manufacturers use cane molasses as a binder to hold the pellets together but it may be used in smaller amounts. With them getting cane molasses already through pellets, they don't need any extra honey or molasses. It's best to avoid most dehydrated fruits because the sugars get concentrated in them. The best treats are always going to be veggies and occasionally some fresh fruits. |

Anything that is "sugar free" will have some sort of a chemical sweetner like nutra sweet/splenda etc. Those in my opinion are not even healthy for humans let alone a guinea pig. |
