Timothy Hay Cubes?

Anyone ever heard of or seen these at there local pet/feed store? I have seen them at the pet store that I currently go to for my cat & dog food. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried them with there piggies and if the piggies liked them. I was thinking of trying them because I have a small allergy to the hay ( only feel it when going into the bag to feed more ) and I don't want to aggrivate it more. From what the box read it is timothy hay in a compact little cubes and is dust free.

Re: Timothy Hay Cubes?

You can give them as a treat, but they are not a substitute for real hay. Your pigs still need those long pieces of hay to wear their teeth and keep their digestive system going.

Re: Timothy Hay Cubes?

fairysari took the words right out of my mouth. Cubes are great for treats and even something for your pigs to play with if you want to give them hay during floortime, but not as a substitute. Many members have found that bluegrass or orchard grass is an excellent substitute for timothy when they are having allergic reactions. My spoiled pigs get KM's bluegrass exclusively now. Kleenmama's Hayloft :: Home I've personally found that all of her hays are MUCH less dusty. I'm not allergic, but it does cut down on the sneeze factor.

Our boys have tried them and they have turned up their noises at them. They are not enjoyed nearly as much as the real stuff. Personally I found them a waist of money.

Mine could never be convinced to nibble on them. They just pushed them around until they got aggravated with them. And then one of the girls missed spraying Hobo and hit the cube instead and nobody wanted anything to do with the cube.

All that is said is true. Plus, my pigs love to play in it. They hide in it and have a grand ole time when I first put a big hunk in the rack.
