Oxbow cruelty free??

Does anyone who purchases Oxbow food products know if the brand is cruelty free i.e. the company doesnt test thier products on animals? I know it may seem like an odd question to some, but many feed companies do unfortunately test on animals, such as IAMS. I did email Oxbow customer service but havent heard back yet. Just wondering if anyone knew of that sort of information.

That is a good question. I would hope that a brand so strongly recommended by this forum and GL is cruelty free. What a shock that would be to many of us if it turned out not to be!

I found this website while doing a search for finding if Oxbow is cruelty-free. It seems more of a personal website by a Guinea pig activist. It lists not necesarily products that test on animals, but companies that dont market the products for GP's appropriately. Its says under the segment regarding Petsmart this:
"Encourage these stores to begin selling (if they haven't already) products from the Oxbow Hay Company. It is cheaper than other common foods, and their pellet foods include Stabilized Vitamin C and sell foods that are Timothy-based, not Alfalfa-based."

So as far as the validity of this site I can't be for sure, but it seems like a step in the right direction.
PETA's Caring Consumer page (www.caringconsumer.com) doesn't list Oxbow as a cruelty-free company, but many of the companies on thier are for dog/cat foods.

I had no idea the Iam's does animal testing. I never thought about....how awful.

Iams was actually investigated for over a nine month period. Here is somemore information about it, and where it stands at today . . .

Not only is Iams not a healthy pet food, but also they harm animals to the point of NO RETURN to make the crap!!!!

Oxbow only tests on animals to the extent of offering GPs their food and seeing if they like the taste and if they remain healthy while eating it.

There isn't much wrong with that kind of testing as it's really only taste testing and they aren't putting anything harmful in their foods.

Companies like IAMS will actually give dogs internal injuries and then see if their foods help them heal or not. Then after the experiment they will disect the animal.
