| Buying Hay Hello fellow slaves, I have always bought small packages of hay rather than ordering the bulk from KM due to limited funds as a student. I was looking in the paper and say alot of hay for sale really cheap in my area so I was going to go take a look at it. Can you tell me if there are things I should be on the lookout for quality hay? I know that it can't have ever been sprayed with pesticides. Which cutting is the best (I know he loves the little seed ends on the timothy)? Any other concerns I should be aware of? Thank you SO much for your help. Actually, Peanut thanks you too for turning him into such a pampered little piggy. |

| Re: Buying Hay Its gotta be a certain type of hay like Timothy hay, Bluegrass hay, and theres another too. It should be "mixed" like alot of field hay is around here (mixed with alfalfa). And it also shouldnt be alfalfa hay unless your piggers are babies and under 6 months. Other than that, look for quality. Is it stemy, and browned. Or does it have nice blades and smell fresh. We have alot of hay around here too living in North Dakota. But most of it is alfalfa |
