Question Help with choosing type of hay to feed...

I recently found out about the wonder that is Kleenmama's Hay! I live in Washington State myself, so this is extremely convenient. But I have a question, what would be the best type of hay for my two male, 3-year-old guinea pigs? Kleenmama offers bluegrass, timothy (1st, 2nd, and 3rd cut), and alfalfa/bluegrass mix.

Timothy or bluegrass is best for pigs over 6 months. Timothy is fed most often but bluegrass is very popular with many pigs. Hope that helped!

If you order from Kleenmama, you can get one type and a sample of the other type. I would go for Bluegrass (some refer to it as piggie crack) or Timothy. No alfalfa mix. You can also get a box of mixed hay, 1/2 bluegrass and 1/2 timothy.

Edit: If you opt for timothy, go for the 3rd cut. It's the softest and nicest.

I just ordered the timothy 3rd cut. I previously had that cut and it was fabulous. I am waiting for the hay now. But as Ly said, you can get 1/2 of one and 1/2 of another.

Cool Re: Help with choosing type of hay to feed...

Thanks so much everyone! I'm sure this will make my piggies very happy. They are currently eating the timothy kind I buy at the pet store.

Some of my girls have had KM's bluegrass before. I can vouch that it's wonderful.

Re: Help with choosing type of hay to feed...

I have a bunch of KM's bluegrass, and it really is fabulous. I recently changed to a supplier closer to me because of the much cheaper shipping to Virginia, but I have a feeling that I'll still be ordering from KM occasionally. It's really THAT good!
