Lately I've been using some Kay-tee hay, but man it's expensive! In the past, though, I've gone to horse barns and asked them if I could pay them a buck or two for a grainbag of hay. They have never charged and it lasts me about 4 months with the girls, and it's not too big to store (no room for a full bale). I suggest phoning around to the local horse places and asking them if you can, explaining that you shouldn't have alfalfa hay. I've only run into 1 place that had the stuff (alfalfa) and they only had it around for a treat, so they gave me some of their regular bales.
Let me know about the petstore though, if I can get them to order some in, it'd be great, cuz I'm moving and wont have the chance to check with the local barns for a bit.

I brought my hay from Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advocacy, it only cost me $5 for a 2'x2' lot of hay, it is going to last my piggy at least 2 -3 weeks. I think maybe it's a good idea to check with some spca, or maybe small animal rescue group around your area, and see if they have any hay for sale.
