Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Alright then I am building an alternate cage (mainly because I live in jeffersonville ,NY Pop. 200 and material is not easly found) and was wandering if I should make the sides out of chicken wire? At first I did'nt see a problem, but then I thought a pig might be able too chew right threw it. I'm not sure any suggestions? |

DO you ever go to a bigger city? Target often has them. You can also find them at some dollar stores. |

Honesdale is the biggest city near by and it does'nt have a target or anything of that sort, calicoon does'nt have any either and those are the only big cities we ever go to. "I've checked all over, trust me" Last edited by __ben; 03-13-05 at 07:51 pm. Reason: more info needed |

Chicken wire would work, though because its on the out side of the cage. Where are you going to get coro from? Do you have any shelters with guinea pigs near you? |

You could build a simple pine frame and tack 1/4" hardware cloth to it. I prefer the hardware cloth over chicken wire because it's a stronger material to work with. |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 This is REALLY off topic but, I watch the channel TLC a lot, and the name Jeffersonville sounded familiar. Just a guess, but is this: http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/to...rsonville.html the same town? Sorry I was soo off topic. |

Yeah, don't allow their feet to get on the chicken wire. They might get bumbleffot, get a toenail ripped off, ect. Just put it where your pigs can't get it, and you should be okay! |

The piggie might be able to get through the wire. |

My main concern was that they would chew it off and escape/get it lodged in there throat ect. |

That is a possibility... I really like the cloth and wood idea. You would have to pull the cloth really tight and use a staplegun though. Sounds like a brilliant cage design to me! |
