Re: Silly Question about Cavy Cages I know you were saying it in a light hearted way, but I though I'd share my story! Lyndsay, I should have taken a picture but I was too stressed that they would run out through the hole in the fence (it is really small, but you never know). He's calmed down now - I've added more toys in the pen to keep them entertained.

Re: Silly Question about Cavy Cages That's really good that he has calmed down, I'm really lucky that I have a really lazy pigger, and the only time he moves is if I come and sit beside him in his outdoor pen, or if he needs to move a few inches infront of where he is to get to some more grass. I'm currently using chicken wire as a pen for him, and because he doesn't move around at all the space I have is what I think is overkill. But I wont make it any smaller I like to go and lay down with him, and have him walk around me, and sniff my hair.

Re: Silly Question about Cavy Cages I would say yes. My daughters old guinea pig used to jump out of the cage and her new one seems to like to go up the door like its a ramp when hes out of the cage. So I am sure they COULD(not yelling) get out.

Re: Silly Question about Cavy Cages Any pig would want to get out of a petstore cage. It's like living in a toilet.

Re: Silly Question about Cavy Cages I have an opened door to my piggies cage that they can walk through and romp around my room if they wanted to but they dont. I can't even entice them with a treat to leave their cage.

Re: Silly Question about Cavy Cages I should seriously take a picture of Porky when he knows it's floortime. He'll go to the side of the cage & just look pitiful. And then he'll start chewing the coroplast. But they do go back in when they've had enough & just want to chill out or nibble hay. Phoebe only really liked coming out for floortime when I let her roam my whole room & left the cage door open. I posted a video somewhere where she's running around her cage (on the floor) in circles. I've added cubes to cover some parts of their cage (over their pigloo) incase they figure out how to get out.

Re: Silly Question about Cavy Cages I have 1 escape artist pig but she doesn't seem interested in escaping her cage. Now in a playpen on the floor leaping over 14" sides is just too appealing. Forget the house. Grids are made for Rolo to use as hurdles. She could win the high jump I ended up tying a 2nd walmart playpen on to the current one so the sides are 20" high. Snickers will consider jumping over a 14" high playpen but can't seem to get her fat butt up that high. I've never had a guinea pig want to escape a c&c cage. Most of the time when they are out they run back to the room their cage is in.
