Exclamation Help! Grids too big??

I just built my C&C today and I am transfering the piggies into the multi-level cage with a lid. But I have a problem. I bought my grids from target and relized(after I spent all day on my cage) that the grids were only 8x8 . I really don't want to take the whole thing apart because I would like them in their cage by the begining of the week and I am very busy(I always find time for the boys) but I can't go out during the week to get additional grids to 'babyproof' the cage. Are the 8x8 grids alright?? I really need suggestions! :-)

Re: Help! Grids too big??

They can fit their head through them & get stuck. Most probably can't fit their whole body through but imagine if they do manage to do it. It would be awful! If you have your cage sitting up off the ground then they could fall. Even if it's on the ground they will naturally run and hide somewhere then you would have to tear your whole house/room appart looking for them. What about other pets or kids... This could just be a horrible thing. I would take them back or take some extra measure to make them safe. I'm sooo sorry! I know how exciting it is when you have the cage pictured in your mind & then finally get to build it. What a bummer it must be. It was an honest mistake... I just wouldn't risk it. SORRY!

Re: Help! Grids too big??

The 8x8 grids are not ok. Pigs can get their heads stuck in them. The reason we have this message plastered in all the major forums is because they are dangerous.

Can you double the gids?

Re: Help! Grids too big??

Thanks. It's a big disapointment but I am going to go and get the extra grids first thing tomorrow. I have a cat and two dogs and my 2 pigs are VERY small pigs so I definatly will get those grids.

Re: Help! Grids too big??

Doubling the grids with a cat would be a good idea any how even if your grids weren't too large.
