Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I have just experienced something strange- I saw it with my own eyes. This is just a warning for all you guinea pig owners. Most of us probably have hay racks, right? Well, some how Marmite climbed from the coroplast box then into his hayrack! So he was sitting IN his hayrack! I got him out and took the hay rack out IMMEDIATELY for further investigating so he couldn't hurt him self. Luckily, he has no injuries. Please take care! |

Oh my! I had a similar thing happen! My lethal Edward, who is blind, somehow managed to get out of the cage totally! It was strange, to this day we still dont know how (we don't have a c&c but even still, it just doesnt add up!). At the same time, my grandmother was here visiting us from ontario and it was her first time ever in our apartment and it was the middle of the night plus her first night here. She had woken up to go to the bathroom and said she saw a little white guinea pig walking around (of course Eddie doesn't go far as he cannot see, he's out of his comfort zone when he's not in his cage) and she thought she was dreaming and went back to bed. She told me in the morning and I couldn't believe it at first, until my boyfriend came home from work that evening and said Edward was walking around when he got up for work so he scooped him up and put him back in with the others. It was funny to see after because we were tidying up the house and you could see every so often some poop here and there so you could tell where he went on his little escapade! But as a warning to everyone else, make sure they can't get out! They can jump up to over a foot high so beware! I was lucky enough that the house is baby/piggy proof. I know put a blanket over the cages before I leave anywhere or go to bed so they know they cannot get out. |

Oh my! I already had a grid over the top of the hay racks, though. |

On a lighter note to the Original Poster; What type of hay rack do you use? |

I know this was scary (especially with him being blind), but the way you told it, sorry, but it made me giggle! Glad you're Grandmother didn't think he was a rat or something! Also glad you rescued him from his adventure! |

Well mine is a grid, so I'm not to worried. When you decide to make a warning make sure you list what it is exactly so that you don't cause panic among some people. |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 This made me laugh (not your story, but in thinking of my own) in remembering the time Felix jumped inside the Kleenex box of hay, realized his head was stuck, then flung his head up wicked fast and KABOOM! He bopped his brother on the bottom with it as the hay went flying everywhere. |

Haha, It is pretty funny! I was puzzled at first! I still, to this day, cannot find out how! And I'm surprised he never even hurt himself! It's a pretty high fall for a little pig (especially a lethal), we took him to the vet, not a thing was wrong with him! Clinton said it was so funny the next morning, he said he got up and there was Edward in the middle of the kitchen floor. He heard Clinton coming and he looked at him like "hey, good morning! I'm ready to go home now!" . |

That is so cute! I'm glad he wasn't hurt. Since he wasn't we can all laugh at the image of this blind little white guinea pig having his run of the house for the night. Too funny |

My guys never climbed into their hayracks (a good thing). I think they are way too lazy to do that. |

My girl Dazzle has discovered climbing not to long ago after popcorning all over her cage one afternoon. I'm hoping she doesn't do what Edward did! My other girl Versace, she's a bit to heavy to be climbing! Then again.. I could be in for a major surprise! I have to admit, it was very comical to read that and I'm glad he's okay!! |

Ha, that reminds me when my hamster Timbit climbed all the way to the top of a 6- foot curtain then- fell! He got up, shook himself (like a wet dog shake) and continued on. :P |
