Possibly. Why do you ask?

Re: is plastic clear tape harmful to pigs?

I was just wondering because I was going to make my Guinea Pig a tunnel and I wanted to make it long and I was wondering if I could tape it together.

Re: is plastic clear tape harmful to pigs?

They really don't need long tunnels. You could use tape but if they start eating it, then you have to remove the tape or remove the tunnel.

I moved this thread as it doesn't have anything to do with the Med forum. It's more of a safety question.

Re: is plastic clear tape harmful to pigs?

I'm assuming you mean the packing (packaging?) tape? I have that holding the two halves of my chloroplast together and I caught my piggies nibbling on it. More than nibbling: they devoured all that they could reach. I monitored them carefully for 2 weeks afterwards and they don't seem to be any worse for the wear. I obviously don't recommend it, though.

Re: is plastic clear tape harmful to pigs?

There's something about duct tape that makes my pigs obsessed with chewing it. I've had to re-position it all so it can't be reached and just do without it in some areas. Not worth the risk.

Re: is plastic clear tape harmful to pigs?

My guinea pigs also seem to have a taste for tape. They've eaten it and been fine but of course I try to keep it out of their reach. I would not recomend using it to construct a toy or house. I would try binder clips or another non-adhesive to make your tunnel.

Re: is plastic clear tape harmful to pigs?

I always err on the side of caution when it comes to my pets! You could probably find a safe alternative instead of tape.
