Question Guarding those piggies!

I haven't even looked at any piggies yet, and I'm actually looking forward to getting everything I need before I get them. But back to the point.

My room is practically the perfect size for floortime, once I block off all areas to under the dresser and bed, probably around...2x10 or so, more or less.
Now, I KNOW that you constantly observe your piggies while they are playing on the floor, constant vigilance!
But...what about when I'm not home?

Problem? My dog.
I have two dogs. The big dog is my rottweiler, she is really stocky and shmall, and knows when I tell her to 'go' when I have a small animal, she leaves.
Problem 1 My other dog is a rat terrier.
He is actually a mix of a rat terrier and a Jack Russel. Very good jumper, and loves short but meaningful car drives.
Now, when have outside time with my rabbit [in a fenced area] he doesn't exactly 'stalk' her, but watches her, sometimes follows her moments. He is not in the cage with her, that would be stupid, he is outside of the cage. Otherwise he is inside, and then he'll start whining.
Problem 2 The door to my room doesn't close. Meaning the latch that is suppose to hold the door close can't reach where it is suppose to latch into because the door is...really messed up.
Meaning, he can and has opened the door.
Since I can't get a new door [the house is a rental], I was thinking baby gate. I have been told by my super dog smart dad [/sarcasm] that he'll just jump over it anyways.

I suppose I could just lean on the door for floortime, but I really don't know what I could do to protect whatever piggies I can't.
A closed C&C perhaps?
I'd really appreciate some feedback. If there is any other information you need to make sure of something, or I haven't made myself entirely clear, just tell me.

Thank guys.

Re: Guarding those piggies!

A closed CC cage sounds like the best way to go, and maybe put if up on something if you can where the dogs can't get too just in case.

Re: Guarding those piggies!

I figure I won't have it on the floor, but raised up with cubes. Thanks.
